Problem(Abstract)

During a Tivoli Storage Manager Server tape operation , the XM_BUFFER error is logged in the AIX errpt log.

Symptom

The following error is logged in AIX errpt :

Cause

IBM device driver Atape issue.

Environment

Tivoli Storage Manager Server V6.3 on AIX using IBM LTO5 drive - Including Virtual Tape Library emulating the IBM LTO5

Resolving the problem

Atape 12.5.0.0 or above contains the fix for this issue. Obtain the fix Atape code from IBM Fix Central and upgrade the driver to fix the issue.
